Maths Maze:
The wicked witch has cast the little princess into the dark dungeon
beneath the castle. Is the princess afraid? No. She knows that all
she has to do is find the magic crown and she will be free again. Is
the princess worried? No. She knows that you will help her on her way.
Use the arrow keys to guide the princess around the dungeon.
You will need to be in the centre of the ladders before you can use them
and right at the top or bottom before you can alight.
That wicked witch has armed the gates with a question which must be
answered before you can continue.
You may meet ghosts who will want their question answered before letting
you pass.
Type in your answer and press the Return key. The princess will prompt you
if your answer is wrong.
If you find the magic key then all the gates will open for you.
If you find some delicious jelly then you can give this to the ghosts and
they will not trouble you.
Find the crown to finish.
These things are pretty dull and this is no better than any other.
Although there are 20 gates to get through you will probably be out after
half a dozen.
Before you start you can set the maximum value used in the questions
and the type of question ..
addition
subtraction
both of these
multiplication
division
all four mixed
The maximum value is set by entering three figures so to set 5 you click
on 005. Yes it is a stupid way to do it. I'm sure I had some brilliant
plan when I decided to do it like that. I can't remember what or why now!
The value can range from 2 to 999. I confess I have not tested 999 X 999!
The default setting is for addition up to 10 + 10.
Click on OK to start.
Although originally conceived as a Maths tester it would obviously
work with other subjects. I added a button to set your own twenty
questions on other subjects. These are asked at the gates (the ghost
still asks maths question) They are jumbled so you will not be asked
the same question at the same gate every time you play it. This is a
crude and non user friendly bit. If you make a mistake you will need
to start from the beginning again. If you find that you make regular
use of this feature let me know and I will tidy it up for future
programmes.
W A R N I N G
It is not easy to think up twenty questions at the keyboard. Prepare
them on paper first. They must....
....Have one simple concise answer. 'Bill Clinton is president of?'
could have America, USA, The United States or, as Alan Partridge would
have it, U.S. of Stateside, as possible answers. This is no good.
....Be no longer than a single line of text. The question & answer
combined can be no more than 36 characters including spaces. Do not
add a question mark as this is done for you.
If you produce a useful set of question please send them to me so that
they can be distributed to other users. I have left some animal
questions for you to load and use.
